Death as an Advisor – Maranānussati Workshop

This two day workshop is being offered at Mindfulness Outreach Initiative located in Omaha, Nebraska at 3015 Pacific Street. The aim of this workshop is the development and pursuit of death awareness and the cultivation of this awareness through the virtuous practice of maraṇānussati.

The Blessed One said, “Mindfulness of death, when developed & pursued, is of great fruit & great benefit. It gains a footing in the Deathless, has the Deathless as its final end. Therefore you should develop mindfulness of death.”

Day two will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery mausoleum from 10:00am to 12:00pm on November 3rd where participants will receive additional instruction followed by dedicated time for reflection and practice. Forest Lawn Cemetery (7909 Mormon Bridge Rd) was established in 1885. The cemetery officials broke ground on the Mausoleum in 2019. While originally scheduled to open in 2020, the pandemic delayed the grand opening. Now, within the 11,000-square-foot Mausoleum at Forest Lawn, families can find a setting featuring warm, inviting tones, textured finishes and large windows providing abundant natural lighting. Thoughtful design offers a range of larger gathering spaces and small nooks of privacy. In every detail, the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn is a place of beauty, remembrance and reflection – protected from the rain, heat and humidity of summer, and the sharp cold of winter..

Offerings for the workshop go directly to the teacher leading the workshop. Register reserves your space in the workshop.
