The Joy of Dharma – Day Retreat

This Insight Meditation day retreat is being offered at Mindfulness Outreach Initiative located in Omaha, Nebraska at 3015 Pacific Street. The theme of this retreat is the cultivation of the sublime state of unselfish joy through the virtuous practice of mudita-brahmavihara.

The awakened one, the Buddha, said:
Here, O, Monks, a disciple lets his mind pervade one quarter of the world with thoughts of unselfish joy, and so the second, and so the third, and so the fourth. And thus the whole wide world, above, below, around, everywhere and equally, he continues to pervade with a heart of unselfish joy, abundant, grown great, measureless, without hostility or ill-will.

The duration of each seated and walking meditation session will be at the discretion of the retreatant. Participants will practice noble silence during the retreat schedule. A short talk to introduce the retreat will be given at 9:00am and a dharma talk scheduled midway through the retreat will be given to support and encourage retreatants during their practice.

The retreat begins in the morning, please arrive to give yourself enough time to take your seat at the designated start time. Meditation cushions are provided by the center. Meals are not included with this retreat. Retreatants are encouraged to bring a vegetarian sack launch.
